Stars and Stripes 2012




The Election 2012 is at its end.

All my media feeds were filled with controversial updates, showing, very obviously, how much this particular election has affected the nation. The election is run differently where I grew up, every voice counts. But that nonetheless does not make the election process any easier. There are just as many controversies and disagreements. To those whose candidate won - my congratulations. To those, whose candidate didn't - don't feel like the world is at its end ( this is how ALL my feeds currently look). There isn't ever a perfect candidate, and there is always something good that either one has to offer.

 I think that this video from Stars and Stripes, one of the shortest, yet most challenging ballets to perform, is a very fitting addition today , whether to celebrate or cheer you up, it will do the job!


What do you think about the results? 

 (in all honesty, we did not have a strong feeling either way, so this turn out is neither a surprise nor a disappointment)

Tuesday Wisdom

I may not be the Pinterest's biggest achiever, but I loved these quotes in my feed so much, I want to share them here to. 

Isn't the first quote the truth in its purest? Be real. Not perfect. I love that.

It can be ... interesting, to live surrounded by super-wives that whip up homemade Belgium- recipe chocolates with one hand while cooking 10 course dinner with the other, with 8th baby attached to her hip/back/front.  While pregnant. 

I personally stand for 2000 loads of after-summer "must-be-done-now" laundry, because I've spent the morning playing pick-a-boo for 2000th time or re-doing the dolly's hair for another 100th.

That's my reality today. I'll catch up on the laundry over the winter
 ( saves up on closet space anyway, right? )

Witchcrafting Science


Did you have a happy Halloween?

Ours had some last minute changes. 
The two of the smurfs decided to switch to witches as they saw me pull two old costumes out of the closet when trying to find pieces for upcoming winter. 

 Those witches , particularly one, makes my days like noone else. 
Here is what I mean.

As I was TRYING to take a picture of a very sweet Nadya , a very curious witch popped into the background. WHERE she's getting it from is beyond me. I am used to a girly girl who WILL NOT compromise herself in any situation and is so proper, that I can take lessons from her. 

But not this witch:

And if you ever wondered whether witches wear anything other but striped tights, the answer is yes.
Polka dots and polka dot bloomers. 

Gotta stay on top of fashion. 


The Mad Scientist had an ever evolving costume. 
Considering that school was in the morning, we left the fun part of the hair for the evening,
which was good, because by then all the pens and probes were lost ( boys, you know) , and hair and glasses were just the right addition to make him happy.

If you follow me on instagram you saw that this scientist also has great taste in food.


I love this face - this is the most accurate capture of what I see every day. Full of concentration and radiating kindness. He still looks small here, and I love it even more because of it. 

The one and only Smurf had 3 new teeth come in right on Halloween. 
We left her to her favorite apples for most of the day, and didn't bother her with hats ( which, by the way, she HATES wearing ). The trick-or-treating magic perked her up at night and THE Smurf was up and running for the candy.

We are all smurfingly well here today. 5-toothed.


 



On the style note, 
as much as we tried to take some decent pictures for Les Femme Moda, one witch or the other kept popping up in the frame. So, here is one, and will see, if I can learn to photoshop the witches out. (Photoshop is a foreign language to me at the moment)

Les Femme Moda : modern & comfortable.

I've been living in the above mentioned modern/comfortable/stylish uniform ( baby carrier included! i think it's my styling take off point ). My gloves are not as fancy, and about 100 years old, but the color was the point, so there you have it. 

A few discoveries I've made lately : 

* i love my faux-leather h&m bag. I always thought leather will last you forever, and it does. However. Mommy-hood entitles a few different things that may not come to mind right away. One of them is the almost constant need for empty hands ( hello, cross-body bags!). I have discovered, unfortunately, that ALL my very fancy leather straps transferred color to my very loved tees and blouses. Faux leather? ZERO problems. 

* yoga toes does miracles! Remember, I've mentioned lack of ability to wear flats, because my too-high arches hurt like crazy after just a little bit? A little over a year of daily meticulous exercises and flats are my personal new black.  I still love and wear heels, but honestly, my excitement is more then a child's in the candy store.  Now , half the time my heels travel in the bag ( or stroller basket ) to the destination point, which, I discovered, requires only 1/2 the time on flat footing. 

* no carrier is like stokke mycarrier. first time, after a day of wearing it a "back spa carrier" term came to mind ( remember?) . now , after nearly a year of daily use, that term is firmly attached to it. i can go on forever, but you have to try it on. trust me , there isn't anything like it on the market. hallelujah! for someone who actually made it possible to wear your baby all day long. 

*vests have become my "uniform".  i used to dislike them - simply did not get the purpose. but since fall/winters are so mild here, i discovered a whole new side to this article of clothing and i LOVE it. 

*scarves can go LOOONG ways to keep you warm.

* i love structured hats. i hope this trend stays forever. 

*if it doesn't, i'll still wear them anyway.
