Les Femme MODA: trend alert

trend alert

GET THE LOOK:

If you are following the WW{ FASHION } W{orld}, then you have most likely already seen and heard all the buzz about those BAT tees. But it's not just the bats, it seems like fashion favors all sorts of animal kingdom this season and graphic prints in general.

I personally like it.

And I think the bats are cute.

Are you game or pass on this one?

Bits and pieces from my INSTAGRAM

And here it to making your Friday more fun from our INSTA-life:

Some big news that happened around here , that we were very lucky to catch on camera. I wish I could put all the grunting that went with it too:

A very pleasant discovery of a gourmet foods shop by a tip off from a friend. Amazing olive bar, vinegars, and don't even get me started on cheeses:

And speaking of stores - why not to play baseball at Target, right?  ( no worries, we bought what we played with )

I've discovered an extra hidden pocket for a bottle/needs and an elastic loop in  my Stokke Xplory summer kit . So creative! And I felt so excited it was almost embarrassing. Almost - because it's the best stroller ever, as I get it proven time and time again.

Speaking of creativity - this is the most creative way of fixing a broken horse leg I've ever seen:

And THAT is the most creative way of confusing a NON-American mama: I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out WHERE to buy this "happy heart and cheerful disposition". Went to Target and Office Max wondering if this is something we buy for a first grader. European schools take their business VERY serious - we just buy everything, no jokes there ( * is that the reason we are not allowed to smile on our passport/documents too?)

A good hair day always makes you feel better:

And double so when you have Mickey ( or Minnie)  ears attached:

I'm totally ready for Fall ( and it's 90 degrees outside...). Maybe if I start decorating early it will come?

If looks could kill, this is it: I thought that woman would catch on fire under the stare she's been given for at LEAST 5 minutes straight ( no kidding! I had time to laugh my *** off, and still take a picture) , after the said woman dared to order to not be loud ( * must say, my child was NOT. And I am not her advocate when it comes to good behavior in public. we constantly ensure kids behave and wish others did too. so this comment to MY child from a woman whose child was all over the place was completely overrated. ) I didn't even have to step in to defend my child - the Manhattan baby came through and the above mentioned woman uncomfortably left after about 5 or so minutes  - those flaming , QUIETLY burrowing eyes would NOT come off her face until she did.

Talk about a "stare down"! ( and you go my girl! way to stand up for yourself!)

And this little babesicle makes us all smile even on the hottest and most tiring day:

WISHING YOU A WEEKEND FULL OF SMILES AND SURPRISES!

Style and Moda : Beauty Trends Fall 2012

beauty trends 2012

FALL 2012 BEAUTY TRENDS OFF THE RUNWAY:
*Geometric Eyeliner Boxy corners, linear lines, and strategically placed dots gave eyes graphic new shapes at Antonio Marras, Altuzarra, Lanvin, Anna Sui, Giorgio Armani, Mugler, and Zac Posen.

*Blunt Bangs Straight-across fringe added an edge to hairstyles at Marni (shown here), Antonio Berardi, Versace, and Elie Saab.

*Squeaky-Clean Strands Neatly parted down the center or on the side, hair had mirror-like shine at Christian Dior, Etro, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Alberta Ferretti, and Loewe.

*Color-Blocked Eyelids Pigment swept across lids in perfectly symmetric patterns at Prabal Gurung, Prada, and Roberto Cavalli.

*Dramatic Red Lips Rouge pouts bordered on goth this season, often taking on a blackened hue at shows like Christian Siriano,  Bottega Veneta, Nina Ricci, Gucci, and Rochas.

Probably, one of my favorite trends! Nothing like a pop of color on your lips for immediate pick-me-up even on the most tiring day! Here are my favorite picks (Nars stays ALL. DAY. No kidding!)

Les Femme MODA: fun print T how-to.

GET THE LOOK:

A print T is your best friend to make an outfit fun, modern and unique. Marc Jacob's bat series are to die for - have you seen them in different colors or shapes? I want to start a collection, seriously.

HOW TO PULL OF A PRINT T :

* neutral color - and pair up with something bright : both will play out

*solid one color print  - stay away from multi-color wonders unless you are going to a themed party

*oversize  - most of the modern print Ts are cut loose, but if not, size up. looser fit a-la "boyfriend" is very "in" and is very flattering.

*make sure your T is feather soft  -  you main key to "careless" look that - as we know so well, takes lots of care.

Live your DREAM: Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev

As I was working on staging one of my favorite ballets, I stumbled on a documentary of Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev. I could not take my eyes of the screen, and the idea to feature some of the most famous duets in my blog series was born.

She was twice his age, yet, they were one on stage.
I hope you enjoy the series.

Fonteyn and Nureyev are certainly the most-loved and celebrated ballet partnership of all time. Individually, Nureyev and Fonteyn were each worthy of joining the ranks of greats like Pavlova, Nijinsky, and Diaghilev, but when Nureyev and Fonteyn danced together, magic happened onstage. Nureyev's youthful, brazen force, and Fonteyn's refined elegance made their partnership a success from the start. One of their most famous performances is the ballet Romeo and Juliet. In the Romeo & Juliet balcony scene, you can see how perfectly these two dancers are able to work together. Onstage, they were more like one entity than two separate dancers?

The documentary below captures some of the most amazing moments. As much as I enjoy to the progress in the ballet world, seeing the old school ballet is so beautiful. Wouldn't you agree?

It's no secret that the power of men's wear doubles in woman's hands.

Done right, a slouchy skinny can be very sexy and feminine. And most definitely very date-worthy.

A pair of heels, a few bangles on the wrists, georgette top and you are in business!
And never underestimate the power of bold red lipstick. The wonders it can do to any outfit are too many to list - just try it.

If there is something I love the summer for , it's the flowers everywhere in nature.

Therefore, the floral trend is simply perfection. I sincerely hope it sticks for a while.

Here are some tips to make floral denim work for you:

*look for monotone color palette. it's universally flattering on all body types.

*small print slims the body

*neutral colors ( grays, blues and beige) while are extremely trendy and edgy, do not scream immediate season, and therefore are most versatile and wills stay in your closet for a while. making a purchase be a worthwhile investment.

*a pop of color on lips or nails will make any outfit more fun.

*keep the rest of the look more quiet , as to not be a "trendy overkill".

"florals in fall/winter 2012 are a big hit. don't pack your jeans away after summer!

The REAL dancers ...

...start right here!

I know it's a little diversion from the style/fashion/trends/looks * as it seems that is what Living Notes from NYC is naturally turning into*, but I think a healthy does of laughter never done any harm to anyone and is a good creativity booster.

I got a twitter from my sister with the link to this video, and I just about died laughing.
Aren't they the cutest? And so proud of my sissy - we are as different as we can be ( even when dancing : ballet vs hip hop, can it be any farther? ), it's such a pleasure to see her taking the choreography world up the storm, and getting recognition far and wide.

WISHING YOU A GREAT DAY!

This summer heat is getting the better of me... I honestly do not remember a summer where we had temps in high 90s ( on a good day) 4 months in a row...

All I can say - I am READY for cool weather mentally, physically and  fashionably.  Dark and rich colors are waiting impatiently in my wardrobe. I'm dying over the ox-blood trend : my absolute favorite of ALL TIMES. Can't wait for my collection to surface from all the years of waiting.

Deep emerald is my next favorite.
