Art discussion

We had a long discussion over this artwork. There are so many opinions on it. I have a strong view too, but before that , please,

Tell me what you think of it. I am sincerely interested to know. More then ever.

  1. Honestly? I don't like the colors but I love the concept. It's so layered and deep. I mean, at first I just saw circles. Then I saw eyes. And then I saw so much more on top of that. It is one of those paintings I could stare at for a very long time.

  2. I have to agree . I thought that the color choice was interesting too. And the more I stared the more I liked the piece.

I hope to hear more opinions, and then I'll tell who the artist is. If you know the art , even a little bit, this may be a surprise. :)

  4. I agree with the previous comments--the colors are a little off-putting to me, and it reminds me a lot of the things that I used to do when playing around in microsoft paint. I'm not one of those, "My kid could paint that!" kind of people when it comes to modern art, but at the same time...this looks like it could be done by a (very artistic!) child. I agree that the layering is really interesting, and I like the way that the same shape has been used in variations to make something interesting. If it was done by a child (one of your own?), I think it's beautiful, and shows a boldness with color and non-representation that is great. If it was done by an adult, I'd like to see this in a collection to see how the different pieces interact. Maybe then I would like it more.

  5. Because you're asking about the art - I am automatically trying to find a secret, trick, or some hidden something. It's not my kind of art for my home, but it is something that I would like to have in my office. The colors would be cheery in my office, but I would not display it until I knew the story. It seems like it's been magnified, so I found myself squinting while I looked at it.

My kind of art is one of two things - - photographs of the ones I love and things my children have made.
